Vernon G. "Bubby" Smith

Vernon G. “Bubby” Smith, age 22 of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1997 in Dayton, Ohio.

Bubby was an employee of Cabela’s, and a former employee of Rural King. He was a volunteer EMT for Harveysburg, a member of Grace Baptist Church in West Carrollton, and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed kayaking, being outdoors and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Deborah Smith who he loved dearly.

He is survived by his paternal grandfather Sherrill Smith, his mother & step-father Robin (Fleming) Smith & Zachariah Taylor, Sr., his father Vernon E. Smith & Keisha Taulbee, maternal grandmother Maxine Fleming, 5 brothers Christopher, Jared, Nathan & Billy Smith, Zachariah Taylor, Jr., 5 sisters Sonya Smith, Julie Terpstra and husband Ryan, Sabrina, Madison & Jayden Smith, best friend Ben Kemp, special friends Mark, Jackie, Richard, Vicki & Peyton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Grace Baptist Church, 851 S. Elm St., West Carrollton with Pastor Doug Criswell officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Swart Funeral Home, to assist the family with expenses.
