Mildred "Miki" Lacy Obituary

Lacy, Mildred Jean (Kirk) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Wayne Health Care – EverHeart Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 5, 1938. She was always called Mickey (which I changed to Miki).

Our mothers were members of the WCHS Class of 1936 (Leah Clina Hartley and Alice Marie Rosell), and we met at their 20 years reunion. We (Russell Gwinn Lacy) dated in July 1957 and were married on December 28, 1957. (I proposed on the 3rd date!).

She was a proud 1956 Stivers graduate but adopted WC as we eventually bought a house on Hazelwood Circle. Out two children Patricia Lynn (8/29/58) and Russell Brian (4/13/60) (deceased), were born while living there.

She was descended from James Madison on her father’s side (Clifford F. Kirk) and Captain John Perry, Shawnee Nation Chief during their move to Oklahoma, on her mother’s side (Alice Marie Rosell).

We reconnected to her Shawnee heritage through our daughter who had done so earlier. Miki chose the name Singing Wind, as it was given to her and became an elder in the Oshawanodasse near Greenville, OH.

According to Shawnee beliefs Miki has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to take her place among the ancestors. That is a comforting thought. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the College (now university) of Mount Saint Joseph in 1989.

She held several positions as Administrative Assistant and retired from the Women’s Crisis Center as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Director. Miki and her husband Rev. Dr. Russell Gwinn Lacy were active in Marriage Encounter United Methodist and for 5 years led the state as Executive Clergy Couple.

Preceded in death by her son Russell “Russ” Brian Lacy on November 13, 2020.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Rev. Dr. Russell Gwinn Lacy, her daughter Patricia Blosser, 3 grandchildren Patrick A. Harsh, Matthew Harsh and wife Jenna, and Victoria Lacy, 4 great grandchildren Linda Ann Harsh, Patrick Tyler Harsh, Rebecca Lynn Harsh and Haley Lynne Harsh, 3 great great grandchildren Dalton Stover, Oliver Limbert and Oakley Harsh, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Evergreen Cemetery, 401 N. Miami Ave., West Carrollton. Arrangements entrusted to the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton.
