Luella M. White

Mrs. Luella M. White, age 98 of Centerville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 11, 1923 in Shunk, PA, the daughter of the late William C. & Florence C. (Duff) Kane. Luella later purchased a vacation home in Shunk where she shared the adventure and beauty of the Endless Mountains with her children and grandchildren.

Luella grew up in Elmira, New York, and resided in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for over 55 years. She was an Employment Counselor for the State Ohio, and a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Akron, Ohio. She was proud of her post-secondary education at the University of Akron and Miami University, Oxford, OH. While owning her own business and parenting 3 children Luella consistently chose to make time to help others and lived a life of service through community involvement and by opening her home to extended family and friends who needed a place to live. She volunteered as a court monitor for MADD and as a liaison at a shelter for victims of domestic violence. Luella also served as an area collection drop off for the annual March of Dimes fundraiser and was a longtime member of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society and Cuyahoga Falls Garden Club, serving as its president.

Preceded in death by her husband David White, her son William M. Koles, and by her 3 sisters Ethel M. Freeman, Deloris E. Nicol, and Vivian R. Roll.

She is survived by her loving children: son,  Dr. Paul G. Koles and wife Carol, daughter,  Maureen L. Shields and husband Jonathan, her daughter-in-law Julie Koles, 7 grandchildren Jason Koles and wife Angie, Rena Kessler and husband Beau, Aaron Koles and wife Naomi, Mary Koles, Stephen Koles, Nathan Shields and wife Emilia, Esther Shaw and husband Tyson, 11 great grandchildren: Harrison Koles, Delaney Koles, Carson Kessler, Campbell Kessler, Caleigh Kessler, Cameron Koles, Silja Shields, Kaspian Shields, Lukas Shields, Abigail Shaw and Elliot Shaw, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
