John L. Burkhart

Burkhart, John L., age 93 of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Kettering Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on December 27, 1926 in Miamisburg, Ohio the son of the late Ralph & Martha (Birkmeyer) Burkhart.

Mr. Burkhart has worked, owned and operated Burkhart Greenhouse & Garden for 78 years working alongside of his wife Nancy for 68 years. He attended Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church and was on the Board of Directors for the Farmers & Merchants Bank.

Preceded in death by his son-in-law Craig T. Allison, his brother Paul Burkhart, and his 2 sisters Ethel Hunt & Betty Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Nancy (Kauffman) Burkhart, his son John Paul (Becky) Burkhart, 5 daughters Maria (Bernie) Darst, Jennifer (Michael) Brennan, Rebecca (Dan) Kelley, Laura (Roger) Turner and Martha “Marty” Allison, his sister Anna Gulvas, brother-in-law Bill Schiewetz, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Right to Life, 88 E. Broad Street, Suite 620, Columbus, Ohio 43215 in Mr. Burkhart’s memory.
