James D. Pelfrey, age 89 of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Hillspring of Springboro surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 24, 1932, in Haldeman, Kentucky, the son of the late George, Sr., & Thelma (Sparks) Pelfrey.
Mr. Pelfrey honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict He was a retired employee of Apex Machine & Tool Co., with 36 years of service. James attended the West Carrollton Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the UAW. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcat Basketball fan and was excited about the games starting soon!
Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Doris (Adkins) Pelfrey on Sept. 30, 2020.
He is survived by his 2 loving daughters Sue Pelfrey and Becky Pelfrey, 4 brothers George Pelfrey, Jr. and wife Sue, Jack Pelfrey, Paul Pelfrey, Lother Pelfrey, 2 sisters Evelyn Hauptstueck and Darlene Madden, 3 grandchildren Jimmy Pelfrey and wife Valerie, Stephanie Vaught and husband Jeremy, and Ashley Koverman and fiancé Derek Wegler, 2 great grandchildren Shae Pelfrey and Annika Clawson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A Graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022, with the funeral procession leaving Swart Funeral Home in West Carrollton at 11:45 a.m. and going to Heritage Hills Memory Gardens, 7370 St. Rt. 48, Springboro, OH 45066 with Full Military Honors conducted by the Combined Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. also on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the West Carrollton Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Bryan Heil officiating.
