Herbert Ray “Herb” Oney, age 74 of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 1, 1950, in Wayland, Kentucky, the son of the late Rosie (Chaffins) Ferguson & James B. Oney.

Mr. Oney honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a retired Supervisor for Cubs Food and a former employee of Fazio Supermarket. He was a member of the Church of God in Cleveland, TN. Herb never met a stranger; he was a member the Oney’s Band, he loved playing all of the instruments, fishing, and especially spending time with his family and friends. Papaw always had Hersey Kisses, and Honey Buns “H-Oney Buns” to share, and to make sure his family had some for their pockets to take home!

Preceded in death by his 4 brothers Curtis Oney, Benny Oney, Timmy Ferguson and Danny Oney, 4 sisters Imogene Vance, Zetta Collins, AnnaRose Collins and Darlene Collins, and by his sister-in-law Gloria Oney.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sherline (Brewer) Oney, his 3 daughters Sandra Campbell, Lisa Marinelli and fiancé Guy Breaulieu, and Kellie Helton, his brother  David Oney and wife Beulah, his sister-in-law  Annie, his 7 grandchildren Megan Liebherr and husband William, Ashley Graham and husband David, Kyle Pereyra and husband Jonathan, Alex Marinelli and wife Moriah, Isabella “Bella” Helton, Lindsey Marinelli, and Olivia Rae Helton, 4 great grandchildren Jesse Graham, Liam Graham, Jayce Liebherr, and Lillian Marinelli, his  fur babies “Toby”, “Leo” and “Otis”, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Pastor Gary Justice officiating. Burial will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (2 hours prior to service) on Tuesday at the funeral home.
