Edward “Jigs” Archie, Jr., age 82 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020 at The Laurels of West Carrollton. He was born on October 29, 1937 in Anniston, Alabama, the son of the late Edward, Sr. & Pearlie Mae (Thomas) Archie.
Mr. Archie honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a Master Furrier for over 30 years. He attended Mount Olive Baptist Church, and was a member of the Greater Allen AME Church. Jigs enjoyed fishing, hunting, western movies & shelled peanuts.
Preceded in death by his son Edward Jumaanee Archie.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Jacquelyn (Phillips) Archie, 7 daughters Angela Genene Archie, Bridgette Archie-Kuti, Dawn Michelle Archie, Kimberlee Edena Archie-Bell, Ayanna Auzurene Archie, Bukeka Maisha Archie-Dodieu and husband Toine, Brittany Archie, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his former spouse Shirley Gertrude Washington, his mother-in-law June Phillips, as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Greater Allen AME Church, 1620 West Fifth Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402 with Rev. Elmer S. Martin, M. Div. Senior Pastor officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (30 minutes prior to service) at the church on Friday. Inurnment will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
