Earl Ray Brown

Earl Ray Brown, age 89 of Moraine, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. He was born on March 18, 1936, in Livingston, TN, the son of the late Arthur Lawrence & Etta Mae (Neely) Brown.

Mr. Brown honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Earl Ray was a former employee of Dayton Press, and a former Bus Driver for RTA. He was a member of the Miami Shores Baptist Church, and enjoyed boating at Dale Hollow, working on cars and NASCAR.

Preceded in death by his first wife JoAnn S. Brown on November 8, 1999, his son Donald Brown, his brother and sister-in-law Delon & Ruby Brown, and by his niece Joyce Rabey.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia J. (Piatt) Rotterman Brown, his son Daniel R. Brown and wife Diane, his daughter Deborah Jo Marsh and husband Scott ,  3 step-children Wayne Rotterman and wife Annie, Janice Cook and husband Doug and Karen Rotterman, 6 grandchildren Danielle Riley and husband Sean, Danay Kniceley and husband Todd, Lindsey White and husband Darrel, Erin Macauley and husband Kenny, Bryan Marsh and Sarah Orr and husband Travis, 3 step-grandchildren Kristen Dicke and husband Kyle, Michaela Cook and Luken Cook, 9 great grandchildren, nephew Larry Brown and wife Leslie, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Richard C. Piatt, II and wife Susan, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Miami Shores Baptist Church, 4000 Vance Rd., Moraine, Ohio 45439 with Pastor Doug Surber officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in West Carrollton with Military Honors conducted by the Combined Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (1 ½ hour prior to service) on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Envelopes will be provided at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton.
