David Jefferson Settles

David Jefferson “Radar” Settles, age 64 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 14, 1958, in Miamisburg, the son of the late Virgil and Evelyn (Mathews) Settles.

David wore many hats. He was a barber for Halls Barber Shop in Franklin. He was a medic with the Jefferson Township Fire Dept., for 15 years, and a roofer for Centimark Roofing Co., and Command Roofing with a combined 35 years of service. David was a member of Rolling Thunder Chapter #11, Dayton.

Preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Shirley Irvin & Betty Payton, 2 brothers, Buddy & Dallas Settles, and one great nephew, James Irvin.

He is survived by his 3 sisters, Shirley Cyrus and husband Ralph, Wanda Ginter, and Kay Sparks and husband Frank, his brother Glen Settles, the love of his life, Lori Seibel, 5 nieces & nephews Donna Roop and husband Garry, Kristi Brush and husband Jason, Brad Ginter and wife Dawny, Ross Sparks and wife Jennifer, Becky McConnell and Michael Settles, as well as numerous other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Mr. Ralph Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

David will be greatly missed by all. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton in David’s memory.
