Cynthia Lou Landis Obituary

Cynthia Lou Landis, age 60 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1965, in Kettering, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herschell Smith, Sr. & Wilma Jean (O’Diam) Smith.


Cynthia loved to listen to music (rock-n-roll) especially Metallica, Pink Floyd and Alice in Chains. She enjoyed movies, cooking shows, reading books, spending time outside and especially spending time with family and friends.


Preceded in death by her husband Terrance Landis, her brother Herschell Smith, Jr. and by her sister Claudia Jean Webb.  


She is survived by her 2 loving children Mark Aaron Landis and Claudia  Jean “CJ” Nyundu and husband Auston, 2 brothers Clarence Smith and wife Rachel, and Mark Smith, her sister Norma Philpot and husband Ted Fisher, 2 grandchildren Terrance “Terry” Nyundu and Auston Nyundu, her mother-in-law Gloria Landis, nieces and nephews Amber (Tito) Rizo, Ashley (Josh) Smith, Christopher Philpot, Rachelle Smith, and Allen Webb, as well as great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.


A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Rev. Dr. Joel Getts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (1 hour prior to service) on Friday at the funeral home.
