Betty L. Richards, age 82 of Moraine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at her home with her family at her bedside. She was born on November 6, 1939, in Broken Bow, NE, the daughter of the late Clarence C. & Alice B. (Speer) Harmon.
Mrs. Richards attended the Southbrook Christian Church for over 20 years. Betty lived out her love for Jesus Christ in many ways, from running a food pantry to starting a bus ministry with her husband. She was also involved as a leader in Girl Scouts, Missonettes, VBS and Women’s Ministry. Betty worked as an in-home caregiver for multiple years and made an incredible impact on each person she cared for.
Preceded in death by her infant sister Virginia Harmon, her sister Martha (nee Harmon) Plummer, her 3 brothers Clifford, Marvin, and Donald Harmon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Gary Richards, her 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn & Chris Wheeler, Shelby & Rick Barnes, and Terri & Johnie Wendling, her sister Elsie Applegarth and husband Bud, 2 brothers Roy Harmon & Ronald Harmon and wife Judy, 2 sisters-in-law Ruth Harmon & Barbara Harmon, 10 grandchildren Nathan (Kelly), Jonathan (Cherie), Amber (Brinson), Brandon, Jaece (Brittany), Andrea (Kory), Zachary, Daryl, Blake & Katie, 13 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Family was everything to Betty. She loved holiday gatherings, family reunions, really any excuse to get together. She was so creative and made family time together very special and memorable. She passed her love of donuts and ice cream onto her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Southbrook Christian Church, (Reverie Chapel), 9095 Washington Church Rd., Miamisburg with Pastor Keith Applegarth officiating. Burial Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Southbrook Christian Church (Reverie Chapel). Arrangements entrusted to the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton.
