Garland, Velma P., age 87 of Miamisburg, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on May 12, 1930 in Lily, KY, the daughter of the late Hubert & Marie (McHargue) Hodge. Mrs. Garland was a retired employee of Monsanto with 33 years of service. Preceded in death by her husband Jerry Ray Garland in 2003, her son Charles Edward "Eddie" Garland in 2015, her granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Davenport in 1995, and by her brother Lester Hodge. She is survived by her 3 daughters Carolyn Sue Hall of KY, Gloria Davenport of Miamisburg, Cheryl Garland of Brookville, 2 special daughters Brenda Leet and husband Patrick of Springboro and Peggy Fite Gross and husband Jerry of Springboro, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and by numerous other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton, with Rev. Nina Burton officiating.  Burial Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service (1 hour prior) on Friday.
