Thomas J. “Tom” Carter, age 70 of West Carrollton, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 01, 1956, in Harlan Township, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas & Ethel (Younger) Carter.

Tom was a graduate of Springboro High School, Class of 1973, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he worked for the Miami Paper Mill, Alonzo Strunk Construction Co., and Dunnington Custom Homes, and later retired as a truck driver for R & J Trucking. Tom was a member of VFW Post #3438, the Miamisburg Moose Lodge and the Rose Chapel Baptist Church in West Carrollton. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Karen (Schindler) Carter on September 17, 2021, and by his sisters Tracey L. Carter and Laurie Haines.

He is survived by his children Vickie Webster and husband Danny, Chad Carter and David “Pup” Laird (Sherry Grabeman), his 2 brothers Michael Taylor and wife Tracy, and Jeffery Carter and wife Joeann, 6 grandchildren Kelsey Wcela and husband Ron, Dannielle Carman and husband Jacob, Morgan Carter, Anthonie Webster and Michaela Webster, Gage Carter and Cole Carter, 7 great grandchildren Adalynne, Jaxen, Tenley, Aubree, Asher, Allister, and Gracie, his “feather baby” Sunny, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton. Military Honors will be conducted by the Combined Honor Guard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
