Obituary

Gordon, Stephen Allen "Crawdad" age 58, of Kettering, passed away on April 14, 2015 at the Kettering Medical Center. Steve was born on July 13, 1956 in Danville, KY, the son of the late Rev. Thomas & Mary (Miller) Gordon. Steve graduated from Fairmont West. He was a retired employee of Kroger with 20 years of service, and was a volunteer Firefighter for Moraine, West Carrollton, & Kettering Fire Departments, Moraine & Dayton Jaycees, a member of the First Baptist Church of Kettering for almost 50 years, avid softball player, bowler, golfer, and he enjoyed going on golf trips all over the United States. Steve overcame many medical problems over the years, after 3 strokes he continued to play golf. He battled multiple myeloma for the past 2 years. Preceded in death by a brother Tommy and little buddy Josh. Survivors include his brothers Bill & Dena, of Washington Twp., Roger & Christee of Paris, KY, sisters Regina & Bob Bennett of Napoleon, OH, Susan Gordon Jackson of Kettering, nieces & nephews Bill & Elizabeth Bennett, Sarah & Teri Bennett, Rebekah & Chris Sydnor, Seth Jackson, Paul & Chris Hunt. We are so thankful for the care that Steve received from his good friend Dr. Warren Ljurgren, KMC Cancer Center, Dr. Merl & Staff, Dr. Gupta & Staff at Davita, OSU James Cancer Hospital, Dr. Eperberra, to Steve's wonderful friends for their support at The Terraces, especially Patty Kothman, his many friends Jeff Davis, Tim Raines, Ed Leonard, Alan & Mandy Rogers, Tim Cunnagin, Bob Weber, Mike Hoover, David Weekley & Paul Gordon, Gigi, Jen, Debbie, Ann, & Amy. Steve was a Kentucky Colonel but His claim to fame was always wearing "Blue" for the UK Wildcats. If you are planning on attending the Celebration of Life Services, please wear "Blue" if you can-if you only have Tennessee orange-please stay home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the Charity Baptist Church, 1600 Brownleigh Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Barry Jude & Rev. Greg Davis officiating. Burial Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
