Newland, Sam, age 85 of West Carrollton, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014. He was born October 22, 1929 in Knott County, KY, the son of the late Dishman & Minnie (Cornet) Newland. Sam was retired from Inland with 35 years of service and served his country in the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by 2 sons J.D. Newland, Charlie Simpson, and his brother Charlie Newland. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marie Newland, his daughter Wanda Hilton (Wayne), his brother Merl Newland, 2 sisters Fronia Fugate (Joe), Octavia DeFazio, his granddaughter Jamie Allen (Chris), a great grandson Sam Allen, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Freedom Baptist Church, Moraine with Rev. Henry Watts, Jr. officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery.
