Hamilton, Roger Lee, passed away October 13, 2014 at his home in Miami Township, Ohio. He was born January 27, 1929 in Dayton, as Roger McGregor (Trickler). His parents were Hazel Alta Trickler of Peebles, Ohio and Fergus Hume Stanforth, of Hillsboro, Ohio. Roger's grandparents were Easter "Esther" Shoemaker and Carl Clay Trickler "Trichler" of Peebles, Ohio, and Mary Edith Gibler and Maxwell Gaddis Stanforth of Hillsboro, Ohio. Willard Hamilton adopted Roger at age 12, after marrying Hazel. Roger is preceded in death by son Douglas Hamilton, brothers Clifford "Gene" Stanforth, Mark "Jack" Stanforth, sister Thelma Stanforth Manson, and foster mother Mae Knell. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Flaum Hamilton; his sister Judith Hamilton Taylor; his brother William Klenk of Rhode Island; and his children Tark (Colleen) Hamilton, Janette (Salvador) Hamilton Sosa, Margaret (Michael) Hamilton Coogan, Susan (Tim) Hamilton (Hecker), and Amanda Hamilton. He leaves behind grandchildren Sheila Hamilton, Aileen Hamilton (Hill), and Anna Coogan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Roger was a 1947 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, and a 1951 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, serving during the Korean War. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer, and was employed by Trane in Cincinnati and Rieck Mechanical Services in Dayton, where he was Vice President and Service Manager. Roger worshipped his wife, was a devoted father, and was honest, loyal, quick-witted, hard-working, and had a keen mind until the end. He loved fishing at Tooley Lodge in Ontario, Canada. Roger would do anything to help people and mentor them, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone he touched. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
