Melton, Robert J., age 88 of Dayton, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. He was born December 4, 1925 in Manchester, KY, the son of the late William & Victoria (Benge) Melton. Robert was retired from GM with 45 years of service, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Preceded in death by 4 brothers & 6 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Virginia (Trent) Melton, his son Ted Melton of Miamisburg, 2 daughters Sandra Lane of Boulder, CO, Kimberly Melton of Hoboken, NJ, his brother Gillis Carter of Dayton, 5 grandchildren Shannon, Graham, Kyle, Brian, Joel, 3 great grandchildren Jayden, Tyler & Mason, and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, 705 S. Elm Street. Burial Hillgrove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton.
