Bates, Sr., Richard D. "Rick", age 66 of Moraine, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on July 13, 1950 in Dayton, the son of the late John M. & Anne J. (Ketchmark) Bates.  Mr. Bates was the Owner and Operator of Main Auto Parts, as well as a Self Employed Auto Mechanic with over 40 years of service in the auto industry. Preceded in death by his brother John Bates, Jr. He is survived by his loving children Angel Harbaum (Ken), Richard D. Bates, Jr., (Angie), Jenny Hernandez (Carlos), 4 brothers Michael Bates (Barb), Robert Bates (Connie), Scott Bates, Stephen Bates, 3 sisters Beverly Ringler, Vicki Fisher, Cathy Beckstedt (Tom), numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to our dear family friend, Mike Redfern. Funeral services will be held at 12 NOON on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton with Pastor Ken Harbaum officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Rick's memory.
