Nancy K. Smith, age 87, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 2, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late William H. & Dorothy L. (Foust) Aufuldish.

Nancy devoted 35 years of service as a school bus driver for the West Carrollton City School District. She had a love for art and was a member of the Miamisburg Art Gallery. She also gave generously of her time as a longtime volunteer with the MUM Food Pantry at Memorial United Methodist Church. Nancy found great joy in gardening and especially treasured time spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Smith; her two sons, Gregory E. Smith and Galen L. “Gale” Smith; and her son-in-law, Jeffery J. Brown.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Adriane L. Brown; her grandson, Daniel E. Brown (Cheryl Webb); her brother, Gerald W. “Jerry” Aufuldish and his wife, Judy; her niece, Melissa Mitchell and her husband, Galen; her nephew, Jerry Aufuldish; her fur baby “Maggie”, extended family Darren & Kathy Stanze, as well as many other cherished family members and dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 410 E. Pease Ave., West Carrollton with Pastor Phil Hohulin officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (1 hour prior) to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements entrusted to the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton.
