McCoy, John E., age 79 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was born September 21, 1936 in Ithaca, Ohio the son of the late William & Verga (Clark) McCoy. John was retired from General Motors. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his family country and gospel music, and taught many of his loved ones how to play music. Preceded in death by 4 brothers Paul, Earl, Cecil & James, 2 sisters Helen & Opal, 3 grandchildren Sabrina, Waylon & Stephanie. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Linda C. (Gibson) McCoy, 2 sons Steve McCoy, Monte McCoy (Missy), a daughter Rhonda Buck, 3 steps-sons Scott Thomas (Reggie), Bruce Thomas (Jennifer), Jeff Thomas, a step-daughter Peggy Vaughn, 2 brothers Orville McCoy (Joyce), Don McCoy (Fran), 17 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Linda would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and everyone who helped her to be able to keep John at home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton. Burial Evergreen Cemetery.
