Mayo, Jay R., age 92 of West Carrollton, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015. He was born July 15, 1923 in Hitchins, KY, the son of the late William & Mary Mayo. Jay was retired from General Motors with 30 years of service, honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Lexington and was a member of the Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church. Preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Janet (Barnhill) Mayo, 2 daughters Linda Berger (William), Debra Beverly (Richard) all of Centerville, his brother Bob Mayo (Mabel) of Circleville, 3 sisters Lorraine Waggoner of Fairfield, Virginia Neff of Centerville, Yvonne Ring of TN, 4 grandchildren Jodi, Nathan (Amy), Andy, Rachel (Jimmy), 5 great grandchildren Caitlyn, Kiley, Joshua, Isaac, Ava, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 12 Noon, at the Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church, 960 W. Dorothy Lane, Kettering, Ohio 45409 with Dr. Karen Johnson officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley or the charity of the donor's choice in his memory.
