IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Homer Terry
Money, Sr.
August 10, 1931 – November 11, 2024
Homer Money, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Born in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, on August 10, 1931, Homer was the son of Jacob Ernest Money and Zora Bell Woodall Money.
An Air Force veteran, husband, father, and devoted member of New Hope Pentecostal Church, Homer was a simple man with a profound curiosity and an enduring love for the Lord. Despite having a basic formal education, his natural passion for learning and innovation allowed him to teach himself countless skills that left a memorable mark on the world. Science, one of his many passions, earned him a reputation as the man who could fix anything. Motivated by his self-taught abilities and endless curiosity, he built and sustained a family-supporting business in TV and radio repair, serving the Dayton, Ohio, metro area.
Homer was a soulful lover of Bluegrass music, often performing in various venues, from church services to casual patio gatherings. Born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Kentucky during the Depression, he learned to live without material wealth, shaping a life focused on spiritual connections, family, and nature. These early hardships instilled in him a deep love for what truly mattered: his faith in God, his family and the natural world.
Known for his warm heart and smiling eyes, Homer was famous for small talk, playful banter, and his love of jokes. He loved to laugh and, perhaps even more, loved making others laugh. His sacrificial love for his family and his faith was shaped by his devotion to God. Homer deeply cared for those who needed him most.
Through his life, Homer passed down these admirable qualities to his three children: a love of nature, a deep compassion for animals, devotion to family, and unwavering faith in God. Of all his many accomplishments, he considered being a father his greatest success. His creativity, passion, and curiosity are woven seamlessly into the lives of his children, who are proud to call him Dad.
Homer's devotion extended to his beloved wife, Martha Begley Money, and to her three children. Their relationship exemplified Homer's loving nature, a bond of mutual care and devotion. Martha will forever be honored as a part of our family, a testament to the love and values that Homer held bestowing the remarkable man we cherished.
While we mourn the loss of this cherished man, we also remember to love and laugh in his memory. Homer's life was marked by enduring qualities of love and laughter, which persisted despite any hardships. Whenever darkness enters our lives, we will seek the light, peace, and love of God that Homer so beautifully exemplified. The lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the laughter he spread will live on in our hearts forever. Survived by his three children his wife and three stepchildren and six grandchildren plus 5 great grandchildren.
Until we meet again, Dad.
