Harry J. Kohlbacher, Jr., age 98 of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Vienna Springs Health Campus, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 19, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Harry J. & Edna (Snyder) Kohlbacher.
Mr. Kohlbacher honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was the owner and operator of South Dayton Refrigeration Services with 70 years of service. Harry was a member of the (RSES) Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, the Plumbers Pipe Fitters and Refrigeration Workers Union # 162, American Fields Services Exchange Program. Harry was also a Past President and member of the West Carrollton Lions Club; he attended Memorial United Methodist Church and was affiliated with the VFW Post #3438 in West Carrollton.
Preceded in death by his wife Sidney M. "Sid" (Paige) Kohlbacher on July 24, 2015, his son Robert S. Kohlbacher on January 30, 2018, his sister Dorothy Johnson and his brother-in-law Charles "Bud" Johnson.
He is survived by his loving children Toni (Steve) Duncan, Timothy (Kathy) Kohlbacher, and Terri (James) Hammond, his daughter-in-law Lois Kohlbacher, 9 grandchildren Shelley Profitt, Stephanie Davis (Bill Smith), Shawn Duncan, Heather (David) Wise, Tiffany Presgraves, Kyle (Katie) Kohlbacher, Calvin Kohlbacher, Tracy (Matt) Lenz, and Christy (Jason) Crider, 14 great grandchildren Anthony Philpot, Chelsea Philpot, Tyler Davis, Scarlette Duncan, Hannah Wise, Taylor Wise, Dawson Wise, Autumn Wise, Victoria Presgraves, Abigail Kohlbacher, Lilly Kohlbacher, Caleb Lenz, Mackenzie Crider, and Madison Lenz, his great great granddaughter Lydia Davis, his niece Dorothe Jo (Ken) Baker, his special friend Buddy (Jeanne) Rohrer, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Pastor Jeremiah Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Combined Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton or to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Harry J. Kohlbacher, Jr.
