Gloria J. "Jean" Chapman, age 81 of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Kettering Health Network – Main Campus, surrounded by her loving family & friends. She was born on September 11, 1944, in Clinchco, VA, the daughter of the late Margaret L. "Granny" (Collins) Counts and Hazle G. "Pap" Counts.

Jean was a 1962 graduate of West Carrollton High School. She was a retired dispatcher for the Miami Township Police & Fire Departments and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Dispatcher Center with 19 years of service: and was also a former employee of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles with 12 years of service. Jean attended the West Carrollton Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed having breakfast with some of her classmates from the Class of 1962 at Legacy Pancake House monthly.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Arnold T. "Tim" Chapman on August 8, 2022, her grandson Graham Joseph Gamble on March 21, 2023, her sister-in-law Anna Arlene Chapman and by her 2 nephews Joseph H. "Joe" Shepherd, and Peter Chapman.

She is survived by her loving daughter Rhonda K. Chapman, her brother Robert "Bob" Counts (Cherry Babb),  her sister Barbara Shepherd-Smith, her brother-in-law Alva "Bobby" Chapman and wife Robin, her nephews Andy Shepherd (Courtney Gum), Jason Counts and Jason Shirey,  her nieces Lori Willett and husband Jamie, Jennifer Shirey Estep, special friends Nancy & Troy Cooper, John Farley, Julianna Coates and husband Ron and their daughter Aurora, Kim Scott, and David Gamble, as well as numerous other relatives, many friends and wonderful neighbors.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Rev. Dr. Joel Getts officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
