Gary K. Black, age 72 of West Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 4, 1953, in Norwalk, Ohio. 

Gary worked as an HVAC Technician for Kettering Health-Dayton (Grandview), serving for more than 20 years. He also dedicated 20 years to the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired and spent time working with Areawide Inc. in vending services. Gary found joy in boating, fishing, playing pool, camping, collecting odds and ends, and, most of all, spending cherished time with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; Betty (Hale) Amyx and Earl Black, his son-in-law, Mike Landis, and his stepbrother, Robby Schumard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol S. “Susie” Black; his daughters, DeAnn Black, Amber Bowman and husband Mike, and Kerri Landis; his sisters, Sheri Faulkner, Debbie Lewis and husband Jesse, Angie Black, and Mandy Gullett and husband Terry; his cherished grandchildren, Jordan Black, Taylor Palmeri (Isaiah Fritz), Nya Works, Michael Landis, Keaton Bowman, Aiden Landis, Keyra Black, Wyatt Trosper, and Toby Rogers; his four precious great-grandchildren, Brielle Fritz, Landis Meyers, Liam Meyers, and Giano Fritz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton.
