Rawlins, Dorothy, age 82 of Brookville, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012. She was born on July 30, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Carbaugh. Dorothy was a graduate of Miamisburg High School (1948) and a long-time resident of Brookville, OH, and retired from General Motors Corp after enjoying a 27 year career. Amongst her many passions were her family, volunteering and quilting. Dorothy was a long time member of Sigma Beta Sorority, a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds, for among other things, cancer research. For the past several years, Dorothy was the dedicated catalyst of organizing local sorority members, family and friends to work at the University of Dayton athletic events in order to raise money for the Sigma Beta Organization, which in turn distributes to noteworthy causes. She was a long time participant and supporter of the Montgomery County Fair for over 70 years; it was her favorite time of year to spend with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her husband Edwin Rawlins, (whom she married October 6, 1951), her four children: Glen Edward Rawlins (Mary) Ft. Wayne, IN; Colleen Albertson (Ken, deceased) Germantown, OH; Becky Keegan (Derek) Dayton, OH; Kathy Stebbins (Greg) Farmersville, OH and above all, her treasures; her grandchildren: Patrick, Bridget, Brendan, Deirdre, Neil Rawlins; Adam and Olivia Albertson; Blake (Jessica), Brian and Brittany Stebbins, her brother; Leroy (Ruth, deceased) Carbaugh; sister Elnora (Dale) Schram, of Miamisburg as well as many nieces and nephews throughout the Dayton area. She will be deeply missed by all who came to know her and love her. Services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Miami Valley Memory Gardens Chapel, Centerville, with Pastor Vernon Risner officiating. Burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sigma Beta Sorority Organization, Hospice of Dayton or the American Cancer Society would be most appreciated by the family.
