Kachenmeister, Clarence William "Larry", age 72 of Miamisburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Sycamore Hospital. He was born on May 24, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio. Larry graduated from Lake High School in Millbury, Ohio the class of 1963, and received his Associates Degree from the Kentucky Business College. He honorably served his country as a Sgt. in both the U.S. Air Force & U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, during his enlistment he received the Small Arms expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Para 2, SO P-18, 2047 Communications Sq. (AFCS), Maxwell AFB, ALA, 25 Mar 65; National Defense Service Medals; Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Para 1, SO G51, Hq Central Communications (AFCS), Tinkar AFB, OKLA, 6 Sep 66. Larry was a retired employee of Bluegrass Army Depot and DESC with 30 years of service as well as a retired employee of Moraine Truck & Bus (EDS). He was a member of the Miamisburg Christian Church, MCC Threads, and American Legion Post #165. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph Orville Kachenmeister, Anne Marie (Henshaw) Kachenmeister Huss, step-parents Florence Marie Merril Kachenmeister and Marvin Franklin Huss, and several brothers & sisters. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan (Barker) Kachenmeister, son Jarrett Kachenmeister and wife Melissa, 2 grandsons Corbin & Noah Kachenmeister, as well as numerous other family members and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton with Pastor Mike Tuttle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service (2 hours prior) on Sunday at the funeral home. The American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #3438 will conduct Military Honors at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Threads of Miami Valley, P O Box 772 Miamisburg, Ohio 45343 in Larry's memory. My Legacy from Miamisburg Christian Church (written by Larry): "Larry was a Christ Follower; He was a good husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and his fellow humans. He loved his country and church. He was always willing to help others. He was a good role model to all the kids he worked with while coaching sports. He loved his Lord and us all."
