Smith, Barbara S., age 91 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the St. Leonard Center. She was born October 19, 1921 in Presque Isle, Maine, the daughter of the late Thomas F. & Gladys (Ricker) Sullivan. Barbara was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, and volunteered with numerous charities throughout her lifetime. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rex W. Smith, and 2 sisters Ruth Beaulieu, Eva Melton, and by her brother Thomas Sullivan. She is survived by her 2 daughters Leslie Jane Anderson and husband Larry of Colorado Springs, CO, Barbara Jo Zimmerman and husband Mike of Dayton, her son Sully Smith and wife Claudette of Lebanon, her sister Fran Kelly and husband Chuck of Xenia, her brother Tony Sullivan and wife Bea of Maine, 5 grandchildren Alexia Rudesill and husband Jason, Amanda Smith, Emily Zimmerman, David Zimmerman, Joseph Rex Zimmerman, 4 great grandchildren Ian, Katy Rose, Morgan and Emma Rudesill, and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to thank St. Leonard's Staff and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Barbara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6669 Springboro Pike, Dayton, with Father Tom Shearer, celebrant. Entombment Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
