Courtney, Arthur H., "Scook", age 83 of Dayton, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born February 2, 1933 in Dayton, the son of the late Edward & Bertha (Ballinger) Courtney. Scook was retired from General Motors and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. Preceded in death by his wife Marlene Courtney, a grandson Jeremy Courtney, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by 3 sons Charles Courtney (Robin) of Miamisburg, Doug Courtney (Theresa) of Germantown, Anthony Courtney (Ava) of Germantown, his daughter Debbie Barkalow (Mike) of Farmersville, a sister Sarah Jane, numerous grand, great grand and great great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Kingston of Miamisburg for their care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the SWART & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, West Carrollton. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12 Noon until the time of service.
