Special memories from his sister Gail:

In 1990, my daughter Jennifer and I traveled to Utah to visit our family. I did not know at the time that Clyde would be racing the oval track at Bonneville Raceways on July 7th, 1990. Clyde and Dale had built car #34.

We got up on that Saturday, and my brother Clyde did not have a clean t-shirt, so I gave him my Sinclair Community College t-shirt to wear and I told him, “he was going to take first place”, he laughed and he said “if I did win the race I would give the trophy to you!”

Well, he took first place and they had a beautiful young woman with blonde hair come out with his trophy. And you know how they do all that stuff and usually the winner kisses the lady but not Clyde he shook her hand and she handed him the trophy. When he came up into the grandstand, he handed me his trophy. Clyde told me, “He won it for me and that he loved me.”

That was the only car race I ever went to.

With Love always, Gail
